Spin early and often

As if holding the tidal surges back with his bare hands, the media is already predicting successful handling of the hurricane Sandy natural disaster. This from Reuters today -
Trying to demonstrate that he had learned the lessons of White House predecessor George W. Bush's botched handling of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Obama sought to project the image of a president fully engaged in marshaling resources to deal with a looming national emergency.
Of course, certain details related to Katrina are revised. "George W, Bush's botched handling" jumps out and it was, in fact, contained within the Obama spin back in 2008. In the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, FEMA disaster resources were in place and ready to be mobilized. The then mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin, and former governor, Kathleen Blanco failed to respond in a timely fashion prior to Katrina making landfall. Watch closely to see if the major media intends to portray President Obama as the responsible leader to coordinate relief and rescue efforts. Too bad he didn't display the same concern and action with the Libyan embassy murders. Hat tip to Neal Boortz
